Rear brake pictures
Hi All
I've been out having a play around with Morini today and I can't get the rear brake switch to work.
Could I have a picture of a rear brake cable set up posted up so I can see where I'm going wrong.
I've just thought of something else is the rear set rear cable different to the standard one?

If you have the in-line cable switch for the Tarozzi rearsets then the switch needs a very firm press to activate - try standing on the pedal (when stationary!!) and see if it works. Appears to be no adjustment, its just the way they are - unless someone knows better!!

Re: Rear brake pictures
Hi Paul,
I am using the little switch that came with the Tarozzi's and it has worked fine. Regarding the cable, I do remember having to significantly shorten the cable inner to get the brake and switch to operate properly though.
I will try and get out to the garage this evening for a photo of my set-up for you. Should be quite easy to get detail as the exhausts are off at the moment.
George.

Re: Rear brake pictures
Well I have two cables of different lengths. One was on the bike when I got it, with standard footrests. The other I got when I was trying to find a new rear brake switch and I got sent a spare one with inline switch that someone had, which was totally the wrong length, too short. However, just got some Mauro Gini rear-sets and this latter cable is just right. For information, I measured the inner and outer cable lengths of both (+ or - a few mm):Paul the Destroyer wrote: ... Standard footrests: 670mm inner, 455mm outer
Rear sets: 570mm inner, 425mm outer

Hi Paul, I have a cable with the inline switch as the exhaust I have precludes the use of the standard one. Looking at the pics you've posted it seems your cable is mounted incorrectly. The short section of sleeve needs to be the other side of the stop along with the switch, that then captures the switch between two pieces of sleeve and should allow the switch to work. From experience in-line switches aren't the most sensitive and as someone else said need a good shove to work.

Re: Rear brake pictures
No probs! But just measured the "old", standard, cable again, as when I did so before it was on the bike. I get dimensions of: inner/outer - 675/460. Not too far off what it was before and I'm sure if you used a metal tape to measure one you'd get something slightly different again.Paul the Destroyer wrote:dvhttn wrote:See my post above ......Paul the Destroyer wrote: ....
