So where were we?
Ah yes after faffing around with the rear brake cable I thought I'd balance the carbs
After a 1/2 an hour of twiddling I couldn't get a balance or a good tick over, so while I gave it up as a bad job I noticed this
That'll be why it was a swine to balance then.
Luckily a mate of mine had 2 in stock and they arrived today. after opening a suspicious brown package package of rubber objects (you should see the look the postie gave me) I thought I'd share a pic of me wearing them
Not safe for those who have eaten!!
SO that's this weekends job then !!
While I'm on the subject if I order a rear cable from NLM will it come with a switch?

Talk to Rob at NML, they have them with and without, and in different lengths for rear-sets and not.
Or you could go for the switch in the original place if you're not using rear-sets, they have ones that fit.

Is it in the bracket with the round hole under the pedal?

Re: Last weekend's update
Down by the back of the brake pedal on the frame there is a bracket on the frame with 2 holes the switch bolts onto that, the switch has a pin that rests on the back of the pedal, as the pedal is pushed down the spring loaded pin is released and actuates the switch.
They work better than the inline switch but if you have a front brake switch this isn't so important as the front switch will kick in first anyway.
Legally on pre 1986 bikes the brake light can be operated by either front or rear brake, see:

PS A few years ago I pulled up at a zebra crossing to let someone cross and was tail-ended by a white van man, who's reason was he didn't see a brake light. My sport only has a rear switch and we all mainly use the front brake. I had to point out that I had to stop as there was a pedestrian walking across but I guess in his book they were fair game!

Cheers Simon
I think I've seen that bracket and used it to put a bolt in as a stop for the pedal
I'll be on to NLM later on today
Cheers

Re: Last weekend's update
I have a new 'cannister' type switch somewhere to put on (they seem to suffer with age), however, it won't fit very easily on the 250 with a 350 motor and 2:1 exhaust. So I used a generic pull type switch clamped to the pillion footrest hanger tube and attached the spring to the pedal with a length of lock wire. It may not look very authentic but it works OK.

Re: Last weekend's update
Well I've just had my experience of NLM, what nice people
I'm getting a cable with a switch built in as it's cheaper.
Update to follow when I get a chance to fit it and the new rubbers
