Looking for early 3 1/2 Sport owners (with original decals)

Post by Lafranconi »

Hello everyone,

I am owner of a 1976 GT that has been totally restored (and featured on BIKE EXIF two years ago, yay!) but now I am asking for your help, I'm looking for early 3 1/2 Sport 1974-75 version and/or 1976-1978 owners because I am reproducing the tank and battery cover decals.

Do you own one with original decals or paintings? If you do and have five minutes to take some measurements please get in touch with your email address so I can send you a PDF with measurements I need.

Thank you so much for your help guys!

Are you talking about pinstriping, or badges?

Badges are available, pinstriping would have been painted, probably by hand and NLM could probably help out with a copy of a brochure.

No problems with badges although nowadays plastic quality is very cheap must say.

Painting by hand, I agree it's the old way but decals can be a less expensive and practical solution for someone.

Thanks for your feedback though!

Sounds like you need to talk to my neighbour and get some beautiful metal ones. http://www.morinibadges.com/

As far as pinstriping goes, on my bike it is definitely done by hand. Side-by-side, there really is no comparison between stickers and real art and if you can find a local pinstriper, you'd be contributing to the longevity of this dying artform. A solution for someone, yes, but is that person you? :)

Just my 3½ lira.

Oh, and welcome along!

Has anybody tried the decals shown here ? The sport ones are 60 euros so I would be interested to hear from anyone that has tried them before sending any money.

I have an early Strada tank (the one with the cap in the centre) with the 'Castrol GTX' decal intact.
