Apologises if this has been covered before (did a search but could not find the answer) and I'm sure it obvious but if when I put a strobe light on the flywheel at full advance and the 'flash' is half way between the tdc and timing marks. Do I need to advance or retard the ignition to get the marks to line up? I realise I could simply move the pickup both ways until it lines up, but I would just like to know whether I am advancing or retarding the ignition for my own understanding of how my engine works.
