Ignition wiring

Post by fastharry »

Can anyone give me a clue as to what wires should be joined together to get the ignition to work on a battery less race bike, on a 81 350 sport. i don't want an ignition switch, just enough to make it spark and get rid of everything else. regards, Harry.

All you need to do is use the green wire from the flywheel/rotor to power the ignition transducers (as normal) and run another wire from that green to a kill switch that earths the green wire. It's the same as MX and trials types that run without batteries and charging systems. Just remove the reg/rec and battery and all the kit that uses DC power. I'll have any unused working electric kit in exchange for wiring the job for you!
