squeak

Post by pedro »

My 75 Sport has a mysterious squeak that seems to start after I have covered about 12 miles and is then intermittent.
It seems to have no relationship with speed or anything else that I can think of, my first thought was dry swing arm bearings or wheel bearings but it is definitely nothing to do with those. I do have a slight oil weep coming from the pickup cover, and it made the noise the other day at standstill so I think it must be engine related. I shall have the side of the engine off and replace the seals over winter.
Is this something that others have experienced? As I say, it does not start until some miles have been covered, and is then on and off.

Is it the hamster needing a feed, or perhaps the hamster wheel bearing drying up?

Well the wheel bearing can't be drying out because oil is leaking through it, so I would guess that it must be the hamster, not sure where to get hamster food at this time of night, got me worried now, don't want to be accused of hamiside!
