Weight of a 3 1/2 engine for shipping

Post by julianharty »

Hi, I've found an incomplete 3 1/2 engine for sale abroad. All the metal bits are there apart from the R/H casing and the ignition pickup cover. It's a pre-electric start engine. I'd appreciate any insights on the weight of these engines. The seller doesn't have a scale, they estimate it's about 45Kg.

about 45 kg will be allright. A 501 without magneto flywheel and generator is less than 50 kg.

Thank you Norbert. I can weigh it when it arrives and update this post when I do.

FYI the engine arrived as shipped which amazed me since it was placed in a thin plastic crate with some cardboard wrapped around it. It weights 41kg. This is without the rotor or the rotor cover. It includes the kickstart and presumably the engine oil.
