Mazocchi Fork length(s)

The last of my questions for this batch, what's the length of the standard fork stanchions for 3 1/2 Sport/Strada bikes please? The old Harglo manual states a few were 62cm but most are 65cm. There are some NOS 35mm Mazocchi legs for sale at 61cm, 68cm and 70cm of these I'd guess the 68cm ones are closest but wouldn't be suitable unless they were shortened somehow or spacers fitted for the springs and fitted so the tops protrude through the top yoke.

My current legs are very pitted, I am considering getting them rechromed (6 week wait though currently at Pitted Forks) so NOS legs are a possible alternative if I can get them to suit the bike.

Thanks as ever

I´ve just bought some new stancions. They are 605 mm like my old ones.

Norbert, thank you for this also. Do you happen to have the Morini part number for the stanchions too? I don't have a parts book for the road bike (just for the Kanguaro which doesn't help here).

No need, I found it once I realised the parts manual was online http://www.morini-riders-club.com/membe ... -Parts.pdf
42.08.03 I believe.

Changing my damping system of the new bike with drumbrake I found out that these stanchions are 615 mm long (drum brake). I wonder wether they are Paioli ones. The thread of the top tappet is different, the damper is different (with a ball-valve on top) and the rebump valve at the bottom also is diferent from the stanchions I´m used to for disc brake forks.
The inner parts of the 605 mm stanchions won´t fit in the 615 ones, especially the rebump valve and the top tappet!

I´m lucky that I have a reserve fork with 605 stanchions (a bit bended an with bad chrome), so I can use their inner parts with the new stanchions.

Paioli forks from a 75 350 Strada: 600 mm long. Marzocchi forks: 606 mm long; (I guess they are Marzocchi, and for a 75 350 Sport).

Here are some fotos of the dampers

This are the usual marzocchi dampers without the two plastic sealing rings (there are models with only one but wider ring)

A friend found the same damper in a Sport from 75. I think this is a Paioli damper but not 100% sure. Would be interesting to see a damper from a 250 V that used Paioli forks. As told above the tappet on top has another thread as the Marzocchi forks and the bottom valve also is different (longer an inserted deeper in the tube)

The Paioli forks have better fame then the Marzocchis. The reason must be the aditional top valve. When i mounted this fork in Dulcinea I put in 200ccm of SAE 15 like I´m used to. After 100 km I changed for SAE 10 and it became a bit better but still a bit hard. Now I´ve read that the Paiolis (at least for 250V) need 160 ccm of SAE 7,5.

Now I changed for the damping sistem from Sören with regulable top valve (design from Paul Camton), which I put in new stanchions (605 mm) for Marzochhi forks using SAE 2,5. Still have not done a test ride.
