Clutch information please

Post by Steve »

Hi all - I am a new member following the purchase of a 1980 Strada/Sport. I stripped the clutch today & was surprised to find that it had an extra steel plate, 6 including the spring plate. Assembling the plate pack without it allows the pressure plate to contact the inner basket prior to the plates compressing resulting in no drive. Checking the Blue Manual for dimensions & assembly, the steel & friction plate numbers are correct 6 friction plates & 5 steel & they are within tolerance so should not give this problem. before I remove the inner basket to check the washer thickness behind it I thought I would ask for information. Having watched Paul's video on clutch re assembly I note that he refers to there being no half plate, however I do have a half plate as shown in the manual. Is this as simple as fitting a full friction plate in place of the half plate. The plates are "Sureflex" thanks in advance - Steve
