Crankcase breather size

Post by mbmm350s »

I seem to have an original crankcase breather that is made of fossilised amber and rock hard. Is it 19mm i.d? as the crankcase spigot measures 18.4mm?
cheers

No help I am afraid as I replaced mine some years ago with some tubing I had kicking about. What I do know however is getting the labyrinth in was a bit of a pig even with swarfega on it.Perhaps KY jelly would have been better.

I changed mine a year ago and have some left over knocking about (somewhere), which I can't find! I can give you the outside OD though - 24mm, neoprene tube, held on with a pipe-clip, the baffles fitted snugly as I recall.

I used 19mm ID braided PVC tube on the 'FE'. Possibly not totally suitable as 'food' grade, so perhaps not petrol/oil resistant, but no problems as yet. Softening the tube in hot water assisted with insertion of the labyrinth.
