Hello, folks.
My '82 3 1/2, a triple disc jobbie, has the Grimeca front master cylinder with a built in stop light switch. Needless to say the switch ain't doing its allotted task so may need replacing unless I can revive it with repeated injections of WD40
Before I attack it further, does anyone know whether these are a screw in switch like some of the Jap ones I've seen (though I've seen those with spanner flats on the switch body) or is it a press fit?
The overhaul of the bike is coming along well and it's really now just the fine details that need seeing to.

My 3 disk K had a screw in switch with 2 small spade terminals which also failed.I just got one from down the road ,a Japanese item which did the job and i took the trouble to fit heatshrink over the terminal end.I think the shop in question has stopped selling bits in favour of whole bikes otherwise Id get you one.dead cheap though.

I shall grasp the nettle - well the switch anyway - with pliers and give it a twist

It's a screw in switch and I recall the same as fitted to some Hondas. I also recall it's an imperial thread; 1/4" UNEF (32tpi), but 1/4" ME (model engineer) will work too.

I did wonder whether it was a screw in one, Paul, hence my question. The body of the switch has a slight knurling on it but no flats for a spanner - and not a lot of room for any pointed pliers either. 1/4 ME I can do, thanks for the info.
As the switch is jiggered anyway, there's nowt to be lost in giving it a forceful tweak in the morning
