Piston ring spring

Post by Tim Louth »

Hi all, question of the day regarding the 350 Sport K1. Can anyone explain why there is a spring behind the oil control ring on the front piston but no spring behind the oil control ring on the rear piston. Many thanks.

Sorry, cannot answer why, but the rings I bought before Xmas both had the spring. Apparently this is the way to go.

My K1 project didn't have a spring on both pistons.

Did you put springs on both pistons?
I am in the process of rebuilding my engine and am not sure on the best way to go.

I cannot remember about this either but I should have a set of pistons removed earlier from the bike (which were new) and another set of barrels and pistons. I will have a look at them all when I get a chance.

My old pistons don't have a spring behind either oil control ring.

Thanks.
After much thinking, which made my head hurt, I spoke to Chris from NLM and decided to go with springs on both.
