Kick start oil leak

Post by Lewes96 »

I have a slow leak dribbling from the kick start shaft. Anyone shed any light? I assume there is a seal on the shaft somewhere? Cheers

Yes, there is an o ring on the inside of the casing. To replace it the clutch side cover has to come off - doable with the engine in the frame but I'd put up with the dribble of oil - be assured it won't turn into a flood!!

I am going through the same issue with my 500 Camel. If you are handy with tools, I think it`s worthwhile fixing it. I have a bit of a write up in the 'Off Road' section.
Cheers.

Can’t quite see from the description: did you have to take the clutch cover off to change the kick start oil seal, or the whole left side cover and clutch assembly?
