rev counter

Hello - it seems after 36000 miles the electronic rev counter has died. Just to be sure it is this an not some other part are there any tests I can do. its running a full NLM ignition and pickup at the minute and I have been through and checked the connections. Also has anyone recentty had one rebuilt who can recommend anyone - thanks - Duncan
