The coarse gause filters do not filter out the fine micro particles that is produced with the continual wearing away of the rubbing parts of the engine that are deposited in the crank pin which acts as a centrifugal purifier and eventually clogs one or both of the oil feeds to the big ends, usually through poor maintainence and use of crap oils. The are however, good at catching the bottom of the pistons that crack off where cracks propitate from the expansion slot hole to the bottom of the skirt if two cracks occur.
