carb issue

Post by dunk 1 »

Hello - have finally put the bike back together after its partial resto!. Was most surprised when it started after a few kicks as was sure my rewire was going to raise a few issues. As part of the process I had replaced the pads in the choke/enrichment levers and put in smaller idle jets - so long ago I can't remember which size I plumped for without checking. I have only given it a very rough set up to get it started but am wondering about the choke - on left side it is needed to start but then overrevs massively and sounds like it is speeding up - after starting if I turn the left off and leave the right on it idles fine. Both off it stalls but if I turn the left on the problem comes back - it really is racing but fine with choke off - any ideas - Duncan

The enrichment lever raises a plunger that not only uncovers the end of the starter jet, but also uncovers an air passage to give a fast idle.

Sounds like my K2 which I normally start with only one choke on, but sometimes use two if very cold weather and then knock one off immediately it starts.

Hi,
It is possible to put the slides in back to front and this can lead to the revs building and building, not a nice thing (don’t ask how I know). Maybe worth checking?
