My much loved starter motor gave up the ghost some time ago. I tried the wash the grease out trick again but no joy this time.
I gathered new brushes and things and had an expert "electric motor man" put it together again,
The motor runs as a motor but does not throw the clutch shoes out; even when a fully charged battery is connected directly to the motor
I know which way the clutch should go by the simple test of using the kick start. Which way should the starter motor go? I thought that I had replicated everything as it was but I may have boobed/
Can the motor be made to go either way?
