SOLD -1981 K1 (Wiltshire)

Post by RedVee »

Picked up this imported 'spares or repairs' or maybe 'ripe for restoration' bike many years ago for spares for another Morini but never had the heart to break it. It's an import with no documents, I believe it to be a 1981 K1. It's been stored in a garage for probably 15 years and still turns over. Did actually run when I got it. It needs to go as I just don't have the space. What do you think it's worth?

Here's my suggestion:

Lower bound £500
Upper bound £1250

NLM sold a roadworthy high-mileage K2 this summer on eBay for under £940 (I was the losing bidder)

Also, I agree it'd be good to see it back on the road.

Try these...

Needs a tachometer, but can't find a decent one. It has a white faced one at present.

It has sprung an oil leak, so next task...

Running well, took it for a ride today, runs very happily at an indicated 100kph.

Also has an electric and sugar cube fuel taps, so bike valued at £500k :)

Looking good. I have enjoyed my K1 for some years now. In fact it only seems like the other day I rode it home.
I always expect the side panel knobs to unscrew but they never have.
Where is the oil leak? I have had one once from behind the rear cylinder at the crankcase. Only a small one but fixed now.

The oil leak is from the crankshaft oil seal. My fault, the seal was not square... got a spare.

There is a weep from the front base gasket, I have ordered a new one but Mdina have no head gaskets available...

One thing about oil, why does it look like the Torrey Canyon has visited my garage, but the oil level doesn't go down?
