Also used on the off road Morinis to split the throttle cable.
Which is a much better arrangement (that twin throttle cables) as you can adjust free play at the single cable without upsetting the carb balance and they will stay in tune for longer.
Plus as throttle cables usually fail at the twist grip it is easier/quicker to replace one cable, again without upsetting the carb balance.
Later BMW air cooled boxers adopted this arrangement, to stay in tune/balance for longer.
Might be worth keeping? Have fun
PS Much prefer the flip chokes because of problems with the cable arrangement sticking slightly open at times.
