Mk1 Sahara / Camel wanted

Post by demood »

Current none- member looking for an early twin shock 500cc sahara. Any condition considered. Would prefer a project but would also consider a complete running bike.
I have a feeling these might be like hens teeth but any help in sourcing such a bike would be appreciated.
Thanks in anticipation

Hi MickeyMoto
Thanks for that. There seems to have been a rash of later (monoshock) 350s on ebay lately. But for me it's got to be the mk1 500.

Hopefully you'll be lucky but there are not many Mk1s around.
Some owners don't really know which model they have, so be certain it's a Mk1 before you travel to look at a bike. I know of one situation where the owner was so insistent he had a Mk1 that he didn't need to send a photograph to the potential buyer; it was a later one.
Also there are some later bikes around that have been converted albeit with mostly genuine cycle parts but the frames and swinging arms are different.
Happy hunting

Yes thanks ever so much for the lead.
The bike was exactly what I was looking for and is pretty much complete.
At the moment the frame is away at the powder coaters and I am working hard on all the other bits.
I will post a picture on here once it is complete.
Once again, many thanks
