Side covers for 77 350

Post by holeinthehead »

Hi All,
I realize I may not be alone in this, but I'm looking for a pair of side covers for my 77 Strada. Paint not important, thought I'd see if anyone had a spare set before I just design my own.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
I believe that NLM have/had fibreglass replicas available. Probably better than original as the rubber 'top hat' locators get sliced through by the sheet metal of an unmodified original.
Worth asking them.

George.

Thanks George - has anyone gotten the fb ones from NLM? Wondering if they're painted or finished in any way.

I purchased one for my ‘74. Gel coat finish. Needed some work. Cost a fortune for shipping to the US and all the extra charges MLM adds on. No other choice though.

Can I ask, what extra charges?

NLM tacks on an extra 10% of the total for US orders - in addition to the added postage. Especially frustrating when the exchange rate is already against us.

Were they painted red? Just curious about how much more painting I'll need to do.

You are after the square ones right? I think the NLM-covers are the rounded ones, there are more replicabuilders around. I spoke to a german guy who travels around autojumbles who makes them and they look pretty good.

May not be much help, but this is from an early (round tail lamp assembly) Strada.

Are these the round vs square?

I think - if you want it to be original - you want the ones on the 2nd pic. I've never seen these as replica's though. The rounded ones where used up to '76 on the Sport, maybe the GT after '76 also?

The 77 cast wheel Strada that I turned in to the original Forgotten Era hill climb bike had the first pic 'round' type covers. Selling them on Ebay raised a useful contribution to funding the project :)
