Hi Tom, your 501 Camel looks great. I found the larger screen wasn't much fun at higher speeds due to turbulence and the bike was far better to ride without it.
The previous owner thought the same; we are both tall which may make a difference?
Good luck with the quest, Ian

Hello Ian, thx for that, as you have given me some good ideas/ Camel advises before, i will trust on you!

Also will contact somebody who has both the XE and X3 Camel, so he can compare both situations.

I am 1m 76 cm's, more of a Italian sized Dutchmen (the Roman's also entered these low swampy lands did you know) ,so less prone to have the turbulence on and over my head, but i know that my brother ( over 1m 83cm) had the same issue's with his Moto Guzzi Quota.
The solution was to / or/ mount a fairly big screen which he could tuck behind/ or / get rid of the standard in between sized screen, do without it and deal with the less turbulance it created.

Hmmm, been in contact with the XE & X3 owner, seems to be the only sad truth..

Will write it off the list then..

Sorted.

Hello Tom,
on another subject.
Do you have some x3 tank shrouds in good condition? I'm patching mine but would prefer some good ones!
Great looking bike.

Hi Pete,

Thanks!

Shrouds? My guess is that they are the nylon strips/ bands that go over/ protect the tank's edge's?

Wild quess is that you will have to find somebody who's selling X3 parts on for example Ebay.it / subito.it and/or get some (auto) material that can replace it, like the strips they use on the inside of car doors?

Kind Regards,

Tom

Thanks for the reply Tom,
by 'shrouds' I mean the black pressed plastic covers either side of the headstock, they are fragile and lead a hard life!

The strips you mention are available through car trimming suppliers.

many thanks

I think they are supposed to look like radiator shrouds.

Ahh, yes....

Well, found mine in Italy on Subito.it
But since they are so fragile, people from the German Morini Club suppose that you should make them out of a plate of rubber. For that you will need the real one's in order to copy them into rubber.
There was a nice 'how to' turorial on the La Strega website, but since it had a crash a while back, everything there between beginning of 2018 and 2014 has been erased!

a sort of Morini Tsunami
