Speedo drive

Post by Stubaker58 »

Hi,
Changing my tyres and this came to light, it still works amazingly but how long before it falls apart?
Has anyone got a spare?

Should have said ... it’s off a ‘79, double disc, 31/2 Sport.

I'll have a look in the shed, as I replaced the one on the Forgotten Error (77 cast wheel disc) (with a drive-less cover. Missing the actual worm gear bit though if I remember correctly, as I had to pinch that for the 2C/375 when that chewed up the teeth. I think they are fairly standard? When (don't hold your breath) I find it, I'll take a photo and some dimensions.

If you don´t find one for dobledisc, you can use the normal one with no disc on the right side. With a saw, file or flex you have to cut the outer part of the cover. The inner part is the same as for dobledisc

I may have one. I think you may be able to find the castings on line, the worm drive is worth saving, or you may be able to weld the crack.

Thanks guys.
If you come across anything let me know how much. If I can’t find a replacement I’ll look at getting it welded and spending some time with a file.

Eureka.

Though I think it's not a direct replacement. I can measure it up if the Fount Of All Knowledge here think it might work.

Thanks for that. I think that’s the one for a single disc wheel.
Ming has sorted me out with one in good order, so all good there.
