Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
You have the same problem as me... Spurs!
I'll make do with a Windswept Wolf limited edition aged in a Glen Moray whiskey cask. A mere 9.2%. Now where are my sandals..

Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
Having just tried my 350 hub on the mainshaft of my 500/5 I can confirm it doesn't fit,; beers for Norbert and Tom!
Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
A pint will do. I hope to come to Padwell Park about 2022
Simon,
tomorrow I´m going to my garage to look for an oil pump drive gear.
I think that these are the same for all 350 and 500/501 motors as far as they have a rh plain bearing. And that is the case with all 500/501 motors. The first 350 oil pump drive gears had 6 gears and were increased to 7 gears with the plain bearings, if I remember that well. I´m going to make a foto if I can find any.

Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
Promised is promised:
I´ve found 3 diferent drive gears for the oil pump:
-with 4 gears (still don´t know for which model)
-with 6 gears older 350 motors
-with 7 gears for plain bearing motors 350, 500, 501 -Thickness: all 16 mm (although the foto looks not like that)
-Interior diameter: al 18 mm
-Extern diameter: 4 and 6 gear 34 mm, 7 gear 35,5 mm
Simon, that means a drive gear from a plain bearing 350 would do for the 500.
If you don´t find that stuff on the island to avoid shipping: You can´t always get what you want, but except the clutch center I could send you If you are interested, let me know.

Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
Hello Norbert.
"Ill bite your hand off" as we say in the UK. - ie yes please!!!!
Do you want to email me and we can do Paypal etc in private: moriniboy23@yahoo.co.uk
Ill see if I have an email for you, too.
Interesting news about the different drive gears.
Maybe someone who's better than me at mathematics (virtually anyone breathing) could work out if you could drive the oil pump faster with a combination of 350 or 500 primary gears and one of the three oil-pump gears

Norbert (or anyone else!) you wouldnt happen to have any reasonable-condition used 350 or 500 (Yes, I know they are different) exhaust nuts you could sell me would you?

The oil pump runs off the crank so the primary drive ratios should make no difference.

Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
Simon, that stuff will be yours. I´m going to have a look after the exhaust nuts as well
Yes, I guess the quantity of the transportet oil in our case is defined only by the number of gears of that worm gear.

Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
Regarding the oil pump gearing, I actually had the opposite thought when I fitted the roller bearing conversion to my 501-David- having blanked the main bearing oil feeds when the roller was fitted, should one reduce oil supply by fitting the drive gear from an early ballrace engine to avoid over supplying the big ends?
I am not brave enough to try that theory out mind...

I would leave it as it is when the chanel is well closed
Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
Interesting!
I can confirm that indeed the internal size is 18mm and that there are two outer diameter versions:
One 34 mm, the other 35,5 mm
In the box with NOS parts there are two partsnumbers mentioned on stickers which were at the bottem of the box:
14.04.02 = 350cc
14.04.28 = 500cc
So which one is which?

Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
From the 350 parts book on this website
The 02 is for roller crank
The 28 is for plain bearing crank.
Does this make sense?

Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
Hello Tom,
Just to add to the confusion there are more oil pump gears.
14.04.02 6 start gear 350 ball bearing
14.04.28 7 start gear 350/400/500/501 plain bearing
14.04.34 5 start gear is for 250 -2C ball bearing twin
14.04.20 4 start gear is for 250 T plain bearing single Tom's mystery part!
Mark

Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
Another piece of the puzzle is falling in place..you guys are definitely Pro's!
@Mark, so you are saying there is a third one involved, this shiny one in the photo (with 4 gears?) is 14.04.20 (250T)?
12.04.02 check, ball bearing 350
14.04.28: 7 gears, i will look for it in the box.
Tom

Re: MORE 500 Engine parts wanted
@Tom yes the 4 start gear is for the 250 T (may be 125 too?)
There are at least two more - the 250 2C has 5 start, and the 250 T a 4 start, the 125 I don't know.
