500 barrles off in the frame ?

Post by morinipete »

Sods law. It runs OK all winter and first sunny day it smokes like Keith Richards and is chucking stuff out the rear breather. As such I'm expecting a broken piston ring at best (one piston actually came out of Alan Jennings skip 3-4 years ago....so it's hardy surprising). As such (and as its a few years since I've had it down);
1. Can you get the barrels off (rear pot in particular) a 500 with the engine in the frame ?
2. What should the clearance be on the pistons/bore once re-bored (I have some of Nigel Price's forged Omega ones, thankfuly - pays to stock up)

Cheers

I thought it did not sound toooo good when you left my place ! No warranty given on old second hand parts-not even used by yours truly! It's good news you can get the rear barrel off by removing a stud to pull the barrel out sideways. You can be "the guinea pig" with Nigel's new pistons!- hope I never need to fit mine! :mrgreen: :mrgreen: :mrgreen:
