500 sport 1981

Post by pearson422 »

have a stock 1981 500 sport, completely reworked, less than 9000 miles, found this bike at a customers house sitting on flat tires in garage. This owner had not started the bike since 1988, I bought in 2006 and had all of the normal things cleaned and reworked. The bike runs beautifully and looks beautiful...like brand new. All stock parts. Red and black with Fairing.
Does anyone know what this bike is worth (insurance purposes) Extreamly clean bike. I am the third owner.

Also noticed the seiv 500 was made in 82' my bike is an 81' and has 6 gears. Noticed all of the other 81's were 5 gears...is my bike an seiv ?

If I can figure out how to upload photos I will.

1981 500 Sport

Congrat's on the find!

A really nice 1980 500 Sport, relatively unmolested and 5000 miles on the clock, just sold on Ebay for a little more than $2800.00. That seems like a fair deal to me. Moto Morinis were never really popular so they haven't ridden the nostalgia wave of the last few years. Then, as now, Morini enthusiasts operate just a little bit out of the mainstream. :D

All the 350s were 6-speeds, but I've never seen a 6-speed 500 that wasn't badged as an SEIV. That doesn't mean one was never assembled that way though, Moto Morini was a tiny manufacturer and bikes were often assembled from whatever was on the shelf at the time.
