Morini tank - which model did this come from?

Hi guys

I purchased a 1981 Morinin 500 and it came with a spare tank in a tasteful purple. I sandblasted the finish off to reveal a bunch of Bondo (since removed). The tank is not the same as the 500 so I am guessing that it is actually for a 350..... Am I correct? Does anyone recognize which Morini model this came from?

The tank has some damage that would need to be pulled out and properly repaired before reuse.

Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

It's a 350 tank; the tank's front mounting point shows that. With the cap's hinge position at the rear, it's probably 1976 or later. Up to (and including) 1975 the tanks had the hinge at the front. An undated factory brochure, probably from 1976, shows both 350 Sport (now with front disc brake) and GT/Strada (still with front drum brake) with 'your' tank although at some point the Sport started to use a quite different, angular-shape tank. The GT/Strada probably used your tank for another year or so until the 350 models started to use the same front mounts as the 500.

Many thanks Norbert and Texaskitty for the replies. On balance I think the tank may have more value to some one with a 350, rather than me hanging onto it. If anybody on the forum is interested in it, please PM me.

Happy New Year to all!
