Hi, its time to replace the cam belt on my 500 Strada, I can't for the life of me remember how to determine if I need size A, B or C.
Is there anybody out there that knows ?
Thanks in advance
Mick.

Yes, the camshaft pulley should have the A B C marking stamped on it. All in the manual, easy to do.

An if there is no letter, it´s a "B"

And pattern belts are all Bs anyway, unless they’re not.

 exactly! It´s a kind of loterie but normaly such an industrial belt will do, an costs less than 10€

Only the pulleys of the first series motors don´t have a letter A,B or C and have the norm-size B,

The majority of timing belts will be 'B's since that size sit right in the middle of the production tollerances.
Look up 'Bell curve', 'Normal', or 'Gaussian' distribution

Thanks guys, my manual has been returned to me and everything is clear now.
How do you guys prevent the rotor from turning when undoing the nut, do you all have the special tool?

You can make that tool easily yourself. Two pieces of steel or strong alu, three screws and three nuts

Maybe you have to tune the two srews/bolts that enter in the flywheel (this one is for the newer flywheels). Leave one arm long enough to settle un the footrest

On the road you can put the 6th gear and juse the rear break.

About to fit a new belt to mine too. Are 'Gates' belts good quality ?

I think any belt you buy from a Bearing Factor, or on line from a reputable company like RS will be at least as good as an 'original' which was more expensive due to them being measured and graded.
Quite possibly any modern belt will be made from better quality materials, too.
