Speedometer Cable '81 500SEI

Post by Jack »

Hello folks.
Went for the shakedown run on the 500 to the Bell yesterday, with George. It was good to meet up with all of you by the way.

The one proper failure that I did have on the way back, was the speedometer cable. It's gone to speedo' cable heaven.
The one on the Mdina Italia site does not appear to be square drive at both ends and does not have the 3o degree (ish) bend in it.
Does anyone have any idea where I can get one from,

Any help appreciated!

I used a Moto Guzzi cable on my 350 K2 when it's original failed.

Stempy: I just had a good chat with Dave at JJCables, I am going to send him my cable that he is going to take the upper ferrule off that and graft it onto a new cable for me, £23!! get in! Apparently, they'll do their best to make any cable for any bike! But they can't get bent Italian ferrules :)
Thanks very much for the information.

ACC: I looked at the cable and the upper ferrule does not have the 30(?) degree curve in it. Looking at my clocks that may make it difficult to fit. Thank you for the information though.

Do you have the 2nd generation clocks in the black plastic surround or the original in rubbers? If the former, then you may need the 90 degree bend thingy that screws onto the end of the cable before screwing onto the instrument.

I think, being Sei it will have the later instruments.
