Post by kmamac »

Maybe some might be interested in the progress of my 500.
Here are some photos ( I hope they work - first time posing photos!)

Top yoke needs to come off again for a bit more polish.(and the rubber needs cleaner more effectively than I have done so far- ideas? Note washer under nut. The first job on my lathe. Washers this week errr spacers next?

More of the same

New rubber, which cost me a bloody site more than I though they would for a set of 'old' sizes. Still not decided if I shall turn up new spindles (need to get better at cutting threads) or but a plating kit! Note indicator shaft in glorious stainless (I love my lathe!)
Caliper showing new stainless bits including that shouldered bot thing. Marzzochi sticker courtesy of ebay

One quick comment.

You've got the ignition modules on upside down.

Hi Keith,

Thanks for sharing your photos. It's always nice to see some work in progress. You've just inspired me to get my 500 back together. I took it apart to fix a loose clutch stud and some oil leaks last September, and due to ill health have not yet got round to putting it back together. Must get onto it soon - and I have a lot less work to do than you do too. Best of luck.

Thanks Paul for module comment. One of the reasons for posting was for the informed to point out stuff I got wrong. As mentioned in my photo post I did not strip the machine down my self (I had boxes of bits) and th epublished documents are only of use up to a point. All feel free to add comments!
best regards
Keith
