Weak Camel?

Post by Butch »

I’ve noticed the bike has a wavering tendency in power delivery when moseying along at reasonable pace. I think it has probably always done it and I’d previously considered it to be the vagaries of the wind given how high you sit on these bikes.

I’m using it as a station bike at the moment (broke my Sportster), and in the warm weather this week I’ve had to start the bike from cold with no choke, and it’s been OK to pull away like that. The trip overall is about 8 miles or so, so it may be the engine isn’t warming right through. But even so, even after a few miles I can improve the bike’s higher speed running by pulling on the choke (enrichers really of course), when I think that should pretty much kill it.

Too rich at the bottom, too weak at the top? Am I going to have to pull the jets to check sizes here? It’s running what I think are the OE air filters in a frame mounted box and a very quiet two into one, twin exit Lafranconi silencer with the Morini MM stamped on it.
