Is it true that the Camel 501 XE (first 501 Camel) has a 'L5' camshaft installed, and it's smaller brother (or sister) the Kanguro 350 XE the 'M' type camshaft?

I remember reading this somewhere, but looking for confirmation.

First 501 camel L5 camshaft (1985-88) milder than 2nd series 501('88 onwards)
M camshaft shared with all Darts, Excaliber 350 and Kanguro X2 /3
