X1 Silencer

The silencer on my X1 is a little too loud, it is a Lanfranconi MM62 so a standard one for 1983, but it looks as if the end has been drilled out so I am hoping to make up a replacement end as per the standard arrangement.
Does anyone have a photograph and description of the end of an MM62 please?
Many thanks
Ian

Hi Ian,

Bit late to mention but will do anyway...

I too had the same 'it's a bit too loud' issue with the MM62 silencer. I bought an OEM standard baffle from NLM (the last they had available at the time). The baffle is supposed to be held in place with a locking screw via a threaded pillar on the body of the silencer. This looks to have rusted away so the baffle is help in place simply by being an interferance fit. I know from earlier reaserach the diameter of the baffle is 60mm.

It's still loud but much better (and less anti-social) that hither too.

I'm happy to persuade it out to take further measurements and more photos if it helps?

Cheers, Chris I.

Hi Chris
Many thanks for the photo of your MM62 - I also modified my silencer and it is a bit quieter now - I put a circular disc in front of the inner pipe and supported it with 4 radial webs, photo attached. Although non standard, the bark has been subdued to a more acceptable level.
Best regards
Ian
