Tank Pad Kanguro X3

Post by Firingonone »

The coloured tank pad above the front of the seat has always been missing from my bike and appears unobtainable (part no.32.03.39). I would be grateful if an X3 owner could give me a close up photo/diagram with some dimentions of the base plate so I can make one to go with the new seat cover when it arrives.
Thanks

I have two, one from a X2 and a X3. Both have cracked but you can use them to make a replica from stainless sheet material so at least they won't break when your motorcycle gear grabs hold of one of the corners

Shall I make a cardboard template with measurements and post it here?

The pad on my Coguaro is 195 x 45mm which looks similar.
If it were me in the first instance I would cut a bit of ABS and form the bends with a bit of heat. My current sheet of is 2mm thick, maybe a bit thicker would be better. You could get it covered to match. Lots of ABS sheet on eBay.Just an idea?

is this enough info?
drawing was a pain, when I removed the fabric the whole thing fell apart... 80-ies plastic is not very durable
when in doublt about the shape use the right side of the piture and mirror half of it (across the fold) to the left... right side is most accurate
