175 Turismo valve timing

Post by jonjim »

Am progressing with engine work on my 175 Turismo.
Does anyone have valve timing info for this type of engine, including the valve clearances to be used for checking this please ?
My (indelible ?) marking system has failed on the pushrods : I assume I'm correct in thinking that the exhaust pushrod is longer than the inlet pushrod ? And the inlet pushrod lodges in the inner camfollower i.e. the camfollower nearest the piston ? Rather vital (if basic !) info needed here please !
Thanks in advance. J.

Hi Jonjim
It's a long time since you posted your question, but if you still want a reply: Yes, the exhaust pushrod is longer than the inlet one. The rockers can only go in one way (you can't mix them up) and so if you put the longer pushrod on the exhaust you will be right. The pushrods run approximately parrallel and do not cross over each other. The inlet pushrod is nearer the cylinder.

As to the valve timing, I think that the figures changed a bit over the years, but the "overlap" as the exhaust is closing and the inlet is opening, is equal either side of top dead centre.

Good luck..........D
