I thank you for that good info. I have plans for my 501, so if they have not been done, ie Siamesed, will they eventually and i sof I may as well get them done, cost of course being the issue.
I hope to ship it to NZ, to my son who may have a longer use for it, as he is somewhat younger and the roads out there are exactly what the Camel needs. Naturally if it goes it will give me an opportunity to use it if we can get there again.
Great shots, explain it all.

I haven't got anywhere with the Camel front cylinder yet, but I have managed to finish the seat Hans sent me from Holland.
It is at least an inch lower than the original and thus makes it easier to climb off.
I did the work on the seat myself, it's a first attempt and I'm not happy with it, but at least it has finished Kermit off. Thanks Mike.
You can see ripple where the seat foam has been cut and the stitching will be better next time.
Next job to sort the burning oil and the 5000 rev die back.

Blimey George, you have been busy haven't you? Nice work too!
RE your question about the cylinder, it wasn't taken off and appeared dry on top of the piston and no signs of oil burning or leaking, so passed fit for further service. NLM only did the port repair, and no sign of cracks then either. You've been speeding haven't you? I imagine the siamesed seat idea would be the way to go and replace the valves/guides at the same time. Again they looked ok at the time, but...
I was going to ask you to restore my sewing machine but would rather you did one of my bikes instead :D

Hi Steve would like very much to visit The Queens, esp' as it's in my old drinking Zone.
There is always a good tale to be told, even at my expense. I'm known as "The Needle" now, and I've taken some of it too! :D

I have been busy again with this little Tractor, Wheel horse Commando 7, 250cc side valve 7HP, love it almost as much as my Grand daughter.

American engineering at it's best, sounds like a single cylinder Harley and it is Agricultural.

I will be back on the Camel when I've finished the Wheel horse. BTW, if you go to Youtube and search for a bloke called 500Passwords, he plays Rock guitar whilst re-building his "Horse". I realise now It's not me that's weired. He wrote a Rock song for Garden Tractor Widows.

Further to my last post I found 500's post about the tractor widows, not really different to Morini Widows. Anyone who has an interest in interesting machines should enjoy the enthusiasm of this guy. I want to learn how to do all this stuff, great to be able to get off of a desert island without calling a banker.
Don't know if you got the insinuation about tractor seats?

Enjoy the lyrics.

So the next step has been achieved. I stripped, fitted new bearings and brass gear into the starter motor. No oil was present in the gearbox when I stripped it,just a goo of brass and dirt. It took some cleaning out even after I had taken the bearings out. I got the bearings and oil seals from Simply Bearings, online. I did get 2 from NLM but it's quicker from Simply.
I used the Youtube EVGuru process to strip and rebuild the starter. Thanks very much. There is an oil seal on the rear sprocket which I got as well. If you don't fit it then oil pours out. Also make sure the spacer is fitted on the worm drive as it also seals the gearbox. There is a rubber seal on the inner surface of the spacer.
Rob (NLM) got me the specialised stuff including getting the clutch shoes relined. Thanks rob. Here is a shot of the now ready side to fit. Notice the long red lead to the starter solenoid.
