3½ Café Racer

Post by Motoveloce »

Hello all,
I'm new here on your forum, just done my introductory text up on your new members board and thought I would come here and show the Morini 3½ Café Racer I've just completed. It's based on a very rough old Strada with a Sport engine and twin disc upgrade. Apart from all the obvious stuff that you can see in the pictures below it also has a Digital Motogadget Mini Dash and Motogadget M-Lock keyless ignition, there are still one or two small jobs to finish but was under some time pressure for the photo-shoot. The list of modifications seems endless so I'll just leave you with the pictures for now. Hope you like it.
Mark.

Hi I like the exhaust, wheres that from? Youve put plenty of work in to get it to that finish. I take it you are abroad somewhere?

Lets see some more photos especially of this digital dash and the state of the bike when you started the project

Looks wonderful, good colour choice. The exhausts are like shortened Conti silencers off an old Ducati, so should make the right sound.

Cheers,
Fraser.

Very nice, I'm more curious about what you've done to the side panels.
Did you just cut them, and how did you fold back the edges where the mesh is?

Hello Chirpy,
Sorry for the delay getting back to you, I had the notifications turned off and have been away.

I had the exhausts custom made to my specifications, I have them patterned and intend to sell them as an after-market item sometime soon. They're currently un-baffled so can't wait to hear them, should be firing the bike up for the first time next week.

I machined the riser clamps off the dash and fitted custom warning lights into the holes that are actually button head allen bolts drilled out to take 5mm LED's, the readout is a Motogadget Mini that displays Speed, RPM, Odometer and stuff like 0-60 times. The two empty tapped holes will house Motogadget push buttons for the starter and Motogadget set-up.

I'm actually based down in Cornwall and you're right, a lot of work went into the build.

Hi Monstyr,
Yes, I just cut them to size and folded the edges back with standard panel-beaters hammers and dollies then braised the mitred joints. The gold mesh was £2.99 from B&Q!

Thats a credit to you Mate. All that polishing must have took hours. Nice work on the top yoke. Youve put air caps on the forks. How about a picture or two with the sidepanels/ tank off to see how youve done the wiring?? How about a youtube video of when its running? 8)
