Possible disc replacements
Having searched this site and found that a Ducati 600tl rear disc has been used with success to replace the front disc on a Sport, I now know that the disc is 260mm (10.7") with a 25mm off set. Obviously, it has 6 holes.
A search of the internet appears to show that BMW, Ducati, Moto Guzzi, Triumph and Norton (plus the odd conversion on other bikes, eg a Harris Matchless) also used the same disc.
Norvil makes 260mm discs. Some Meriden Triumph parts stockists have 4 and 6 hole discs. Links: http://www.norvilmotorcycle.co.uk/ (part number 069711) and http://www.classicmotorcyclespares.com/ ... s_&_Brakes (part number 37-7079).
These may or may not fit? Any knowledge out there?

I've found a Moto Guzzi disc of the correct vintage for little money. If the offset is the same, this should fit. I'll post up the results.

I don't need to replace mine now I've fixed the master cylinder-I can live with a bit of rust. It might be worth your while contacting Norville on the link above, or old Ducati specialists.

When you say you fixed the front brake, what exactly did you do. My caliper and master cylinder are both fully serviced and working but I still find the front brake to be too poor in braking power, squeely as hell and wooden in nature. My front disc is original and in good enough condition but it was made from a chromed steel most likely to prevent it from rusting. Using softer pads from NLM is not really making enough of a difference.
I still think I am going to change both the disc and the master cylinder.

It was pretty simple to fix the front brake.
The Morini master cylinder, like Norton Commandos of the period, has too big a bore. You can buy a small bore kit for a Commando, which sleeves the bore down.
I bought a cheap Chinese front brake with a small bore master cylinder (although anything Japanese, say for a GN125, 250 etc) would do just as well. This gets rid of the wooden feeling and makes the brake nearly as good as a modern one. It's not an expensive fix.
You shouldn't need to change the disc, although getting the chrome stripped off would help.
Keep the original, just in case a future owner is worried about originality...and wants to return to a useless brake.

This is the disc that I bought from NLM and which sorted my brake problems and gave me great feeling brakes with no squeal. They also look superb.

What worries me with this replacements is if in case of the second disc on the right there is enough room for the odometer cable.

It was a similar price and worth the money. It is very well made. I would like to add the second disc to the right hand side sometime in the future and it looks like it would be possible with a little fettleing.

This looks like a good replacement! You say it gives better feel etc, is that with the standard master cylinder still in place?
