Re: Early 2 piece intake manifold issues

Thanks for the info Paul. Spot on as usual. I found a NOS steel stub and might go back to that setup w the rubber boots. If one were to make some intake stubs, whats a better material? Bronze alloy or stainless maybe? As noted, removing the rusted and seized intake stub required an oxy-acet torch an...

Early 2 piece intake manifold issues

Well I figured out why I couldnt synch my carbs. The front cylinder instake manifold has a vacuum leak right near where the 2 piece intake manifold threads into the head. I tried tightening the lock ring but it still leaks. Upon loosening it I noticed the intake is very wobbly and wont thread fully ...

Re: Starter Motor "Pivot" bolt alignment

I just rebuilt my starter motor using the excellent you tube guide Paul C had done. When I tried to remove the long starter motor bolts I found no insulating sleeves, just blooming black tape. I then remembered I had some 4mm high temp sleeving so cut some off the roll.Perfect. Other work including ...

Re: Starter Motor "Pivot" bolt alignment

Put the long bolt through the case whilst you're lining up and tensioning the motor. The bolt needs to be perpendicular to the case mounting face in both directions. Hi Paul, the long pivot bolt was in place while adjusting the chain tension. I guess i'll have to loosen the front screws up and keep...

Starter Motor "Pivot" bolt alignment

Hey guys, I recently serviced my starter and chain on my '79 or 80 strada. It seems to start very well now but I cant get the pivot bolt lined up and screwed in. All other bolts are threading in and lining up. But when I seat the starter clutch into the flywheel housing it seems impossible to line u...

Starter Relay migration

Should I? Its awfully ugly and the side covers look like leftovers from the last Star Trek Movie. Seems to belong behind the non fusebox side cover where a single tab mount sits for the tool box container . There is a Tyco 12v 75A relay that looks like it would fit for $26 on ebay. Might even be sma...

Re: Carb synch hep needed

Thanks again guys, i'll try that pdf you provided Paul. The bike is coming along nicely and I rode about a mile yesterday on it just to enjoy the warm winter we are having. It does indeed have a sort of flat spot around 1/4 throttle and i'm hoping the proper float height will help but i'm running st...

Re: Carb synch hep needed

Thanks for the help guys, the front cylinder was lifting much sooner than the rear. I undid the cable adjusters and evened up the throttle stop screws by using a small drift that just fit under the slide. The drift measures the slide opening in a way. I think a friend suggested drill bits would also...

Carb synch hep needed

1980 Morini 350 strada w e-start Hey guys,i'm making slow progress on this recent bike and could use a little help with the carb synch. I'm using a Morgan Carb Tune and cant say i've ever had this much trouble. It has metal bars instead of mercury inside the gauge. After some fiddling with the gauge...

Re: 350 airbox differences

OMG, I have been trying to synch my carbs for a week and not having any luck. The last time I pulled the carb to double check the throttle slide and jets a friggin rubber grommet fell on the ground and I had no idea where it came from. I think you just solved the mystery and i'm really amazed it was...

Re: Fuel tap off

I bought some used original taps off ebay, they were listed from a 1976 Guzzi 850 T3. The fuel outlet exits straight down. I rebuilt them with a new rubber gasket from Harpers. It works well but the hose routing isnt perfect. I imagine the Tonti frame might block the fuel outlet if it went horizonta...
