196* Settebello GTI 250cc build
Thought i'd bore you all with my spring project. Not sure what year it is but its a 250cc Settebello GTI. I think they called it a Typhoon or Tornado in the states. I thought this would be an easy project but there's some trauma in the top end. The piston showed bad wear marks in the vertical plane....

Valve Timing
Hi, i'm slowly putting my motor back together and ran into a little issue with valve timing. The motor has been completely rebuilt. The manual is a little confusing regarding the timing procedure: "Turn crank until TDC...Turn cam CW(from left side) until all inlet clearance has been taken up. T...

Re: Carburettor Woes (or something else?) - Help
Sounds like its too lean at idle. You might have an air leak. Try spraying some carb cleaner around the rubber boots and intakes and listen for rpm increasing. Mixture screws should be 1/2 - 1 & 1/2 out right?

Re: Assembly help and part ID needed.
Mantaray, I completely rebuilt the engine. The old pulley was seized solid on the end of the crank. It was ruined during removal. I'm following the manual to re time the crank to cam. I love this motor but that pulley is giving me terrible grief. Its a very tight fit and if it doesnt line up correct...

Re: Assembly help and part ID needed.
THanks very much. Now I just need to get the crank pulley on. Its a very tight fit. I installed it but the belt teeth wont quite line up now. Guess I need to remove it and then try another key way.

Assembly help and part ID needed.
Hi, i've almost reassembled my 350 strada motor. I've been working on the clutch cover area lately. I went to assemble the kick start assembly and found an extra part. Its a thick beveled washer or spacer shim. I thought it went inside one of the spring retainer cups but the clutch cover would not g...

Cosarino resurrected
Well sort of, but I always get geeked out when I can get one to start. This time my wife got it to start and it will be her first bike. I still need to find a few parts for it and the carb is really bad. Big thanks to Luca for sending parts and answering tons of emails. Next up i'll rebuild the whee...

Re: Found an excalibur
I'd have to agree, its fugly. Reminds me of that movie "Purple Rain". I looked at the Mick Walker book and it says the X had a 500cc motor, 6 speeds, 2 into 1 exhaust, bigger carbs, and kokusan electrics. Has anyone fit that motor into a 350 frame? I'm not sure the 2 into 1 exhaust would f...

Found an excalibur
Looking around for parts I found an excalibur for a decent price. I cant seem to find much about it other than its a 500cc. Seems like it would make a nice donor motor for my 3.5. Do you guys know this bike at all?

Re: New owner, strada
Not sure what happened here but it looks like mismatched rods. Kind of hard to tell by looking but the red rod bolts dont pass through and it looks like the rod bolt holes were drilled offcenter.

Piston Options
In my search for 350 pistons I came across this "..Hello, I wanted to inform you that since the demand for these pistons I gave up work to make some forged pistons, built on racing technology diameters 62.5 and 63. They are in the works and will be ready to April 10. Price for the pair 420.00. ...

Re: New owner, strada
I am having a devil of a time removing the crankshaft belt pulley. It looks to have rusted onto the crank. I'll have to make a new puller to get this sucker off.

Re: New owner, strada
Thanks for the info George. I love doing the work myself. Makes me happy to get one back on the road. Small end bushes look fine. I will measure them to be safe. The gudgeon pin tapped out very easily. Stator ignition coil measured 210 ohms. Doesnt look like I can pull it off the plate to clean the ...
