Re: Spewing oil.

Pat- on first reading your post I thought you were offering a constructive comment but on subsequent readings it appears that you are in fact, at worst insulting my intelligence and at best taking the piss. So thanks for that.

Re: Spewing oil.

Hi 72 degrees, I have changed the oil before several times, following the same script every time. Sam oil, same amount, about 2.75 litres, never had a problem before. Pat- I most definitely do push the dipstick fully in, but you may have a point, in as much that the dipstick is quite 'slack' in its ...

Spewing oil.

Hi. Changed oil on my 500. Filled to half way between dipstick marks. Went for a ride and upon returning home a pool of oil appeared under the bike. On closer inspection the area around the dipstick, the frame members behind this and the rear disc and tyre had a coating of oil. Appears to be no leak...

Re: Sei v or not Sei v, that is the question

Thanks to all. EV I hear what you're saying but the tach and speedo dial have the same level of patina so a conversion is unlikely. My bet is the bike was in storage somewhere and registered a year or so after manufacture, which I think was common with both Italian cars and bikes around that period....

Re: Sei v or not Sei v, that is the question

Hi. Thanks for that. The engine and frame bear the same number - 05183, this makes it a pre six speed as the number of cogs in the box confirm! Like I said in my original post I was just curious because most of the info I can find in books and on t'web say 82' and mechanical tach were the change ove...

Sei v or not Sei v, that is the question

Hi. Does anyone know exactly when the six speed was introduced. My '82 sport - well registered in 82 anyway, has the sport badge on the top yoke, gold wheels, plastic chainguard and painted mudguards along with the mechanical tach and swept back instrument binnacle but it has the five speed box. Jus...

Re: Free fender

Hi Tom.
Has the fender gone?
Is it really going for free?
I notice you say it's dented but otherwise is it reasonable, not too rusty.

Carb question

Hi. Had my 500 on the road since early May now, what a bike! One niggle though, my bike seems to be rich from idle to 1/4 throttle making an annoying dip in the power delivery when setting off. My bike came with 40 slides and 50 pilots, and in the world of Morinis' it's hard to get a definite factor...

Re: Rocker cover

Hi hendre.
It is a black cover. Don't have a photograph, are there different types for the 5 speed sport?
Thanks.

Carb issue

Removed the carbs of my newly acquired 500 for a clean and I've come across a little problem.
What i thought was a missing screw from the top turned out to be a broken one!
I'm a bit wary of drilling it out for fear of damaging the threads in the soft body.
Any ideas or will I just have to chance it?

Re: Clutch

Hi Mr guru. I like the idea of a relaxed torquey nature to a bike, it suits my riding style these days. My last bike was a Guzzi Centauro which was fantastically torquey. I'm sure I'll be more than happy with the 500, it is still a very attractive package and looks stunning, not to mention they seem...

Re: Clutch

Hi chirpy. Bit far away. I'll see what I can cobble together. Bit of background; I've just got the bike and at the moment I'm getting together a sort of 'to do' list, as it has been in storage for a number of years. I've found the clutch plates are quite wet so I'm assuming the casing will have to c...
