Re: Front fork colour

If you polish them and don't like the look, it will be very easy to scuff and paint.

Re: MORINI DRUMBRAKE SPORT 1974

It's a good thing you aren't closer or I would have another one in my garage. Pretty bike and I bet it would cost double to duplicate.

Re: winter stripdown

I’m powder coating mine shortly. I’m doing it at our shop so I’ll plug and block off all the areas that shouldn’t get powder. Talk to your coating shop. They usually have different sizes of silicone plugs and high temp tape for areas that shouldn’t get coated. You want then to plug off the threaded ...

Re: winter stripdown

Hi Dunc, When I did mine donkeys years ago, I drilled the bottom off the rivet and they came out easily. For reassembly, I used stainless M5x15 domed cap head screws with nyloc nuts on - they are still there. Used the same approach on both the fork leg mounting bit and the smaller bracket where the...

Lots of heat makes them easy to remove without damage to the threads on the head. I use a MAP gas kit available from any hardware store or plumbing supply store.

Re: Another joke cable from Venhill

Around here, there are places that will make custom cables for about the same price as off the rack. Takes about a week and they are perfect, or at least exactly to the specs you send them.

Re: Front disc-brake questions

It’s very common on the old Porsche's I work on for the brake soft lines to swell and close off. The solution isn’t stainless steel lines but just to replace the old rubber lines. I don’t know if the bikes have the same issue but in general, rubber gas and brake lines deteriorate with age. Rule of t...

I put a notification on ebay, and amazingly within a couple of months an unused one came along that a chap had had in his loft for the past 40 years, just waiting for that special project that never happened. Seek and ye shall find (if your lucky)
Congrats!

It never hurts to ask.

Tach repair

I have a buddy who does all the work on my Porsche gauges. Rebuilding, modifying and problem solving. He’s an HVAC guy who understands electronics and does the gauges on the side. I sent him my Morini tach that wasn’t working. He has a couple ways of fixing it, from adding a “chip” that takes the si...
