Re: Ooops I bought a classic "box of bits"

There's a 500 frame available to whoever wants to collect it from South London https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/825465929910327 I've no idea if it's still available. Good luck tracking down a frame and with getting the project built into a bike you can ride. I'm about 15 to 20 miles from yo...

Re: Welcome new forum members - introduce yourself

There's https://www.morini-riders-club.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=1476 who's up in Belfast who used to be a motorbike mechanic before signing up as an Anglican Vicar. I think he's retired now and back to spending many more hours on motorbike projects. I've visited him from Engla...

Re: New York/Dart Sump Plug with oil level sender

Tom, Would you happen to have any of the knackered oil level switch assemblies? If so, it might be instructive to dismantle one entirely and then work out how to replace each part and seal the shaft into the sump bolt. I'm hoping the long brass shaft, the reed switch, and perhaps even the float, wou...

Re: New York/Dart Sump Plug with oil level sender

My New York arrived with an oil pressure switch fitted so someone else did the actual drilling and tapping of the hole (unless it came from the factory like this). I've seen drawings of where to drill the hole in old issues of ATG (perhaps from when you were first a member of the club?) e.g. in a wr...

Re: Electric help

Judy, Rupert's website is https://rupesrewires.com/ He owns a Kanguro which he grumbles about in his articles but still enjoys riding :) His wiring guide is clear and helpful, albeit it provides general guidance rather than delving into the specifics of morini wiring. He has rewired the green lane m...

Re: New York/Dart Sump Plug with oil level sender

Steve, you could have the best of both worlds: an oil light that lights up initially where you press a button to cancel it provided you actually checked the oil level with the dipstick before starting the engine :) As you know, I have a New York, and as Tom knows - an oil pressure switch has proven ...

Re: Kanguro X1 Exhaust

Thanks for access to the photos on Google Drive. From these photos I get the impression that someone has cut off the end of your downpipes slightly by perhaps 1cm to 2cm or a bit more. (I may be wrong, I've not removed my silencer to check). Also, compared to my very similar silencer (which has visi...

Re: Electric Start

Could you run jump leads from your 1200 Triumph Speedmaster or any available car/van and try that? Also try monitoring the battery's voltage when the starter motor is turning (you might find a second person helpful depending on how many hands you need to coordinate to hold the meter leads, jump lead...

Re: Back Date

I have an early Sport seat on my K framed Sport (which also has a 501 engine and exhaust system shoehorned in). It was mounted by Alex of NLM back in the day - he welded on two horizontal circular rods to locate the front of the early seat and bodged the retaining screw fitting as their seat had alr...

Re: Rotor refitting help

I hope I'll see you at Kophill (I live in Hazlemere which is fairly close to you and Kophill and friends organise the bikes for Kophill). I'll say hi if I find you there.

There are various diameters of the master cylinder and it'll be worth measuring yours in mm before ordering anything.

James, 'twas wonderful to meet you at the Rally and AGM and to see the bike in good working order. Well done on fixing the electrics and for testing the bike on the green lanes on route.

Re: New club member

James, great to learn you're making good progress. Here are a couple of ideas that might help you trace any remaining gremlins in your electrics: The flasher unit essentially makes, and breaks, and makes, and breaks, a circuit for as long as power flows through that circuit. The circuit includes the...

Re: New club member

I'm struggling with the 6V electrics on my new bike. If anybody who undertands them would like to stop off for a fed and watered night or two on the way to the AGM [40 miles away] - please shout? I'm certainly happy to help you make sense of the combined 6V/12V wiring on your Kanguro, I might be ab...

Re: Rear brake trunnion

I happened to buy these recently. They're sold in a general hardware store, I think for DIY furniture such as IKEA sells. With minor modifications they look like they'd work as a rear brake trunnion. I've also bought brake trunnions on eBay and agree they're fairly easy to find something that'll wor...
