Thanks, that was my understanding. I have fairly recently removed examined and refitted the spindle with no drama.
I will keep an eye on it The two chrome plastic swing arm caps are becoming a bit gnarly too.

Re: Electric Starter fault
Assuming it is the motor not turning, I just remove the motor and unhook from the chain. The starter clutch can be left in situ.Take photos as an aid memoir. I mark the starter cases to help rebuild, thought that’s not essential especially if you take a couple of shots. ( e.g. Ardbeg etc) . Hopefull...

Coguaro, X3 etc swing arm
On the Coguaro the swing arm spindle consists of a long bolt which pushes through and then a nut with two washers is tightened,to an unknown torque, to secure it. On a couple of occasions I have found some side to side play. This proved to be due to the nut coming loose. However I can’t think that t...

Re: Steering Damper question
I remove steering dampers when fitted to any bike I have owned. I think it is a bodge for handling issues.
Chairs are an exception of course.

If you had ridden to Bere Cider Bike day at Aller you would have seen another 350. Not mine as I had ventured North on my old beemer.

Fuel tap
Looking for a fuel tap- the type with the low level warning light. I am not concerned about level sensing functionality.
As long as the tank mounting threads are sound. I have one which has some damage to the threads even post redoing them it is not up to much.

Re: Warning lights........
Oil pressure switch came and went. So in the absence of a pressure switch bottom front left of motor you have a red light to tell you the ignition is running. My K1 has an oil pressure switch. In common with beemers these may leak through the body of the switch. My later bike has a blanking plug in ...

Re: Fork Seals
Standard: 35 47 7 2 per leg retained by circlip You may use 10 mm single seal. Should be a fork oil seal double lip type. Take great care removing circlip and seals to avoid damage to casting. I always fit gaiters to any bike I own, no time for dust seal approach. Current seals in since 2007. Mdina ...

Really good work and a great result. You might consider a quick write up for ATG.

It’s yet another thing isn’t it. Can’t be left alone can we? The garage or workshop is often the only escape.

Re: damaged piston
I have just looked at my old pistons, one of which has a crack near the gudgeon pin . Same number as you have. On the top face there is a 4 ( on the “ pointy” part) which I think is + 0.4 mm Lots of info here- you’ll likely need to translate it. https://www.lamaneta.org/forolamaneta/viewtopic.php?t=...

Re: VHB25HS
I’ve just tapped out these pins if tight but usually they are not. A very gentle tap with my light glazing hammer and an old nail ( suitably named!) No points for hitting the casting though.

Re: Cable operated choke?
I have a K1 and a Coguaro. The K1 always starts with just the left hand choke and by the time I have sat on the bike for half a minute it is ready to go. Guess if we had winters like the old days it would need longer but who needs -17 oC? The Coguaro has a cable choke via a splitter. I keep plenty o...

Re: Valve clearance
My Sport has now 80000 on the clock- 48000 were Km then a converter was fitted . I have only had one slightly tight clearance last time I checked. That is a February job. I try and use the E5 fuel and chuck some Valvemaster in ( to make me feel better). Current formulation is supposed to stabilise e...
