Re: Do I have an ignition problem
Look on thr Dutch Morini site for a diy coil rewind. Not difficult, a bit tedious, I doubt the old coil former is salvageable. ah Ming you are very modest, this splendid article is exactly what the O.P would need to rewind the bobbin. The antique grinder a stroke of genius. Based on that I think th...

Re: Do I have an ignition problem
[/quote] Mark, Is not the white wire the 'earth' for the stator? Does this not attach to the transducers to ensure they are directly connected to the other end of the winding? Mr Fast appears to have 250k Ohms from Green to his clip on the barrel but 300 Ohms from the green to white. Shouldn't he ge...

Re: Do I have an ignition problem
With everything disconnected resistance measurements between green and all yellows and red these should all be open circuit. If available an insulation tester should be used to confirm. Any competent winding company should confirm the insulation tests pass. Mark All wires disconnected and ignition ...

Re: Do I have an ignition problem
Hi Mike I am sure you know this as do many but I am repeating this for the benefit of others who may read this later. If d.c 12V d.c is on the green wire and the motor is kicked over this puts the thyristors into terminal conduction and causes failure of both CDI boxes. 12v d.c across the green of t...

Re: Do I have an ignition problem
West country windings have most likely replaced your original bobbin with a scooter bobbin. VESPA stators look very similar to Morini stators so an easy mistake to make. VESPA PX spec is typically around 500 ohms with min spec of 470 ohms. The higher resistance is because the VESPA system typically ...

Re: Just stopped!
I'm only getting 140ohm on the coil but starting has never been an issue in the past. Could this drop suddenly? Yes, winding layer to layer shorts caused by failing 40 year old insulation could occur and cause the number of effective turns and hence the available voltage to the CDI units to be redu...

Re: gearing
Hi The rocker arm bushes and shafts are often worn, that won't stop them running, might well add to the general clatter. The non captive rocker should only have a little end float like 0.1mm, so shaft might need pushing through. Mdina Italia in the UK might even have new ones, or second hand. Dont f...

Re: Aluminium head gasket
As an ex d and t teacher I have some sheets lying about! And I like a challenge... There are only two occupations of Morini owners it seems; Engineer or teacher, or both i.e teacher of engineering as in your case! I will measure up, cant help on the exact grade though, I can send you a used one if ...

Re: Aluminium head gasket
Sorry to hear it was the wrong kit, I guess they don't know their stock properly. Worth bearing in mind when Benjy Straw starts work on my engine. I will have to progress with trying to make my own head gasket then! Could you let me know the thickness of the gasket please? Well you could make your ...

Re: Aluminium head gasket
Yes, they confirm to ignore the picture. Haven't ordered a set yet. Well ordered received and it's as per picture, I.e a 125 Ultimo tipo. So they were wrong. It's not too bad to order two sets as you just end up with a spare clutch cover gasket. I don't use the wimpy centre paper gasket. But I expe...

Re: 250 2C Seat
Hi Vitesse
Its a possible solution.
The 250 2C seat is quite a bit narrower than a 350 sport seat. However with a modification to the brackets, cut off and remake, it could be made to work, but the beauty of the 250 is everything is like a scale model of the 350 and all in proportion.

Re: 250 2C Seat
Great to have you at the Rally,
By the way Barry is ideally after the
Sport style 39.01.16 with the little rear hump.
A later 125 seat, might work too, 39.01 20, I think the only difference is the cover decals.
Does anyone know if a 250T seat has the same base as a 250 2C?

Re: Leaking Clutch Oil Seal
Sorry about the late reply and update to this. I decided to remove the clutch casing and primary drive, and replaced all seals including the main seal. I took great care to fit the new main clutch seal (a quality, double lipped Viton type) before refitting the casing assembly with primary drive alr...

Re: Aluminium head gasket
Thanks,
I ordered a set anyway from Italy let's see what comes.
All other gaskets are usable on 350s anyway.
