So I had time today to remove the gear change linkage, clean it all and adjust it. I now have all the gears shifting more smoothly than they did before. Neutral is still a pain to find, but I am glad to have all the gears back.
Thanks for the suggestions,
Mike

Re: Can't change into 3rd?
Thanks Mark,
This is a new problem. I'll take a look at the gear linkage when I get back from my post Christmas trip north to see my parents. The bike odes have rearsets, so not standard.
Thanks again for the suggestions,
Mike

Can't change into 3rd?
So I went out for a Boxing Day ride on my 3 1/2 this morning. Starts and ticks over beautifully, ride away from home and shift from first to second no problem, then just will not go into 3rd. Shifts back down to 1st OK, and back to 2nd no problem. It has always been a pain to find neutral, I just ca...

Re: Hi! New member from London.
Welcome Konrad. Pretty new myself too, bought a 1978 350 Sport in June and working my way through recommissioning it. I'm down in Surrey near J10 of the M25.

43mm idle jets have really helped me
I have just changed the 50mm idle jets for 43mm on my 1978 Sportified Strada and have found that the low rev stumbles have greatly reduced.
Now to balance the carbs and see if I can get a really smooth response.

I would like the rear wheel adjuster as mine are mismatched at the moment.

Re: Dead Electrics
Just wanted to give an update as I have today finally sorted the issue. Three very kind volunteers from the Motorcycle Restoration team at Brooklands Museum (just up the road from me) came over this morning and worked through various things on the electrics. They eventually determined that the ignit...

Re: Connecting A Morgan Carbtune
Now with the Morgan connectors permanently installed and new throttle cables attached I have tried to synchronise the carbs today. Managed to get the levels close and slides moving at the same time. It is running more smoothly, great at higher revs, still pretty lumpy at lower revs. Happy to hear an...

Re: Dead Electrics
So I got my Sport setup today with the new throttle and cables, I balanced the carbs and took a test ride. During the ride all the electrics came back. So I'm not sure what is going on. It seems like its all or nothing! Perhaps it is a bad earth, through I have cleaned them all and made sure they ar...

Re: Connecting A Morgan Carbtune
Thanks for all the comments, they have been very helpful. My carbs are old, no balance pipe to use. The bung in the inlet rubbers are about 3mm wide, the Morgan connectors have 5mm thread and will not fit. So I have ordered some 5mm brass adaptors and sealing end caps from Morgan and will carefully ...

Re: Sport throttle cables
I happened to take my throttle cables off today and measure them as I am going to have new cables made to work with the Tomaselli Domino Chrome Throttle I'm adding. On both the short and the long throttle cables that I measured the inners were both 75mm longer than the outers. I am going to have my ...

Connecting A Morgan Carbtune
Just wondering where the Morgan Carbtune II connects to the Carbs? The holes left by the metal plugs on the intake rubber appear too small for the connectors on the end of the Carbtune tubes.
Thanks,
Mike

Dead Electrics
I bought a 1978 Sport that had been a Strada at the beginning of June from the for sale section of this forum. It had been off the road for a few years with fuel sitting in the carbs. They have been stripped ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt. I started her for the first time on Monday and almost im...
