Re: Grabbing clutch - grrr!

When I was hill climbing the Forgotten Error I used to swap the clutch stack in from the road engine as I could never get the one with all new plates to have a nice take up. To get the best launch off the line you don't want a binary clutch. In the end I reckon it was a case of the plates on the 'ni...

Re: Morini 350 for sale

I know of no 350 that came from the factory with a 2:1 exhaust system. I've had a few different 2:1s over the years including a 'Ricky Racer' and an NLM stainless version.

It could well be a Gazelle system as suggested.

Re: Parts for '78 Strada

Having only the 250 framed beast now I can't comment on recent experience with side stand clearance as it hasn't got one. I can confirm that the 250 kickstart works well on a 350 in a 250 frame. I have the luxury of a late alloy bottom swivelling one fitted at the moment, but have a 250 one in the s...

Re: Clutch overhaul tools

I bought a generic clutch holding tool off Ebay. I did have to grind the holder parts of the tool until they were a snug fit in the hub splines, but after doing that it worked very well. Trevor That's pretty much like the one I have, though I've not used it on a Morini yet. Going to get stuck in to...

Re: Clutch overhaul tools

You can often get by with a standard screwdriver if the stud nuts have not been overtightened or have not been left undisturbed for years. I use a tool designed for BSA/Triumph clutches which works OK. To hold the clutch 'hub' I use an old plain plate with a length of steel strip bolted to it. A uni...

Re: 250 VEE parts wanted

I may have a toolbox(I'll have a look in the boxes in the new shed, but suspect it went to the tip in the house move :( ), but need to keep a spare lower chainguard as they are a bit fragile. The adjustable Ace bars are unobtainium, I fear. I love them and wish I could get examples to put on all my ...

Re: New Mid sized V Twin?

I was talking to Mark Grinnal at MIdwest Moto this morning at the start of a local VMCC section run (on the CB250RS). Give me a 150Kg single with a low seat and a Morini badge! Tried to sell me a Zontes 350. 188 Kgs and 795mm seat height! TBF, he did give me a tip on how to mount a highish bike I di...

Re: L5 cams

So reground Strada cams. The reground cam I have in the engine I rebuilt has very weird timing and also, I suspect, little in the way of quietening ramps so rather noisy on 'racing clearances' . Not an issue. An excellent opportunity to rebuild it again without also having to open up the 375 to rob ...

Re: Jetting issue?

An equally weak spark on both cylinders sounds more like low output from the ignition winding on the stator. Forget the resistance, see if you can measure how many volts AC it is pushing out at kickstart speed. Until you are sure of that, don't spend anything on other components. I run the 'NLM' mod...

Oh. I see you do run fancy plugs. Enquiring minds need to know more
I always use Iridium plugs in all my non diesel vehicles.

Re: Supercharged Morini's Oiling Set-Up

Interesting that you use Mobil 1 0w 40. That's what I used in my Mazda MX-5 with 127000 miles on the clock. The hydraulic lifters seem to benefit from it, particularly in the winter. Anything fancy in the spark plug department? I find OEM pickup with NLN module and conventional coils sufficient for ...

Re: Supercharged 350 Morini drags a sidecar 110.9 mph!

I used to have a Superdooperdream when I was a lad. On bike night ride outs I used to swap with a 250RS. What a cracking bike. Talking of reliability, anybody notice the power and torque of the new Triumph 400 single? Appears very similar to a 350 Sport from 1974! Maybe Morini should just add fuel ...

We should pencil a date in to our diaries. Perhaps I might find a tuit to get something in the next ATG.

Re: Supercharged 350 Morini drags a sidecar 110.9 mph!

Durability is a key factor in our success for certain. It has taken "Years" to work out the cylinder cooling issues and the oiling issues when operating at 175%+ of OEM power levels. What we have Learned : Change the oil OFTEN !!! or you WILL trash your bottom end plain bearing inserts an...
