I’ve understood how and in which position lower belt drive gear fits…but when the belt is off how do I def know I have achieved TDC of compression stroke? I think I need to be at this point to check valve gaps?
Thanks John + - Matt

Hi All SIMPLE VERSION OF MESSAGE BELOW= QUESTION: Should my LOWER drive gear for the cam belt be easy to remove? (it is) and how do I know where it should be positioned on it's shaft? (The belt is off and I've turned crank and cam...ooops..). PPREAMBLE>>>>>I have had my pickup and magnet checked by ...

Re: Bogging down/ rough running problem
Thanks Tom- good to read you post and that red pickup works with blue transducers. I tried putting my red pickup in same position as yours but no joy. I'll know if my red pickup is faulty next week and in a way I hope it is as that will explain my problems. But now I know I can use it if I get it fi...

Re: Bogging down/ rough running problem
Many thanks Mark and Bill. I’m currently awaiting news on my red pickup- being checked out for me on another bike. Could you say if my new blue transducers should work with the red pickup? Does it need the diodes added also as with the black? If yes then this probably my issue. My black transducers ...

Re: Bogging down/ rough running problem
Hi All I am hoping/ need to use blue ignition boxes-Ducati - (32398112) I am trying to order a replacement red pick up from Markus Heilig. <mheilig@freenet.de> Does anyone know another option/place to get one? I currently have a red pick up...so I am wondering if I can switch to use this black one a...

Re: Bogging down/ rough running problem
I have set the pickup as your 250 photo Mark and can get bike to start and it ticks over fine. On both cylinders ( I made an ANT 2 mark as advised) when I rev up to 6,000 rpm both ANT marks don’t move anti clockwise to vertical (advanced) position. The marks pretty much stay still and popping misfir...

Re: Bogging down/ rough running problem
Thank you very much Mark, Mike + everyone else! Back now and reading very carefully. I’ll try not to ask anymore for a bit!! Thanks again! :) PS addition: I retarded pickup as suggested and ANT1 starts to right of verticle/ clockwise and moves anti clockwise towards as I increase revs. …but it can’t...

Re: Bogging down/ rough running problem
Hi All- I have made a short vid with sound to show what my ANT1 mark does at 6,000rpm (jitters a bit?) and to show the sound of the engine- slight popping/misfire? at constant 6,000rpm (second half of video). The idea of showing this is that you all laugh and tell me I obviously need a new pickup an...

Re: Bogging down/ rough running problem
Hi Mark Thanks for getting back so quick. I'd say it moves 3 degrees either side of vertical maybe. Good to hear that you don't get perfectly still mark and jitter is a good word for what I see. The misfire might be carburettor...or pickup... I will try checking rear plug..but not sure how to make A...

Re: Bogging down/ rough running problem
Hi All- After much assistance on this thread for which I am v grateful I have sorted a few things on my 350 1978 electric start (missing) MM. I just got around to checking the timing using a strobe light. I found it was set correctly EXCEPT the mark seemed to move or 'wobble' around the vertical pos...

Re: Grimeca master cylinder lever operation
Thanks Steve- I think it must be damaged bore. I hadn't used it before and can't remember why it was replaced now...I'll replace it with another - actually wonder if I can use a modern/new one not Grimeca. I would love confirmation of the size of the bolt that holds the hose on so I know what size t...

Re: Grimeca master cylinder lever operation
Hi All I’ve changed the rubber seals on my Grimeca master cylinder but it still leaks where the lever pushes the piston and I can’t get the brake to work while it does. I hadn’t used this Grimeca master cylinder before and the Brembo I removed (ex Laverda) will easily work if I put it back. I have c...
