Re: Petrol pipe bore for the 250 2C to suit the fuel taps and carb inlets

I've come across this with other models too. Lately I've been buying and using silicone rubber pipe as an experiment. It's not specified for fuel but it is very flexible and stretchy so can be made to fit a couple of spigot sizes with undue stretch. I have it on 2 bikes now and it seems to be lastin...

Re: stator

As per comments on the whatsapp group-plus perhaps a couple of close fitting rivets to guarantee the alignment once the screws are tight? ON the one I have to do there were 3 main rivets and a couple of smaller ones doing less stressful jobs such as providing and earth connection. As you mentioned t...

Re: erosion on head

Thanks for the replies I have now cleaned and inspected the piston and bore. Clear damage in two places on the piston head but not enough to cause ongoing issues A fine vertical line on the exhaust side of the bore otherwise a very nice clean bore with no lip at all at the top. The probability is t...

4.8mm sounds huge! Yes, I would also remove the powder coat from the mounting face.

Re: strange brake pad wear

Thanks for input. There was no spacer between the caliper and fork. This is what I was thinking of shimming. Back in the workshop tomorrow and will check further. Then I think you've found the problem. From memory the spacer is 3mm thick approx. I think too, that the thick washers on the engine mou...

Re: strange brake pad wear

What George says plus are the calipers correctly fitted with the thick spacer on the larger top bolt? No shims ever fitted to these pads as far as I know.
Or even just loose calipers?

I declare that you are Roger, Dodger! And claim my free pint and C&M burger! I should be able to get to C&M on the 10th so can volunteer my services as a guide to show you the way. Plus your headlamp might be more use than mine for the return journey.

Re: vin number

That number IS the frame number and there is no VIN in the modern sense. So the frame number is what it should be registered on. DVLA can occasionally take a while to do things but your case sounds odd. If you managed to register it as historic you must have had a reg number at some point surely? Al...

Re: Strada MK5 (1979/80) Fork Seal Size

As Mikey said, 2 of 7mm was the original spec. With decent modern fork seals I use 1 of 10mm seal. They usually have a wiper lip as well as a sealing lip.

Re: More charging questions

The white is and auxiliary earth/ground/masse connection. It shouls normally go to the Bianco terminal on the ignition CDI/Transducers units, via the fuse board. The two yellows are the AC output from the alternator, and the red was discontinued on later types. So long as you have a compatible recti...
