Phew, thanks George, that’s a relief! Seems I’m on the right track.George 350 wrote: ↑22 Aug 2025 09:13 Yes. Original neoprene bit had a conical face towards the cover, more recent ones are straight. Conical needed around 1mm 'compression', newer type nearer 2mm.

Oil Pump “pump junction ring”
I’ve solved my clutch spacer issue. Next issue is! Is it normal for the left side engine cover ( not crankcase) to needing to be pulled down the last 2-3 mm with the screws to compress the neoprene ‘sleeve’ (part no. 23.02.18 pump junction ring in parts book) by between oil pump discharge and oil ga...

Re: 500 clutch spacer washer
Thanks for that. These shims/washers are of diferent size for 350 and 500 acording to the shaft. O,1-1mm are available (no specific morini parts) in special shops.to reach a propper distancia with minimal gap between gasket an drum, just turning freely. The 500 ones have to be placed unter the stepp...

Re: 500 clutch spacer washer
Thanks for that. I have purchased both these shims from Mdina, assuming they were the part I needed, however they don’t fit on the clutch shaft so my second assumption was that although they are the correct part, maybe they were for another model. Maybe some gentle work with some emery paper is the ...

500 clutch spacer washer
I’m in the long slow process of re-assembling my 500 motor and keep identifying missing bits. The latest is when assembling clutch I am missing part number (according to the parts manual) 21.01.90 which is described as a ‘spacer washer’. Mdina parts search don’t recognise it. Is it essential and if ...

Re: 500 Left side main bearing
I will be getting them measured at an engineering place in the next day or so ( I don’t have the tools for this) but a rough measurement wth a vernier gauge indicates a difference of about .25 of a mm.

Re: 500 Left side main bearing
Wellll, I’ve got a new left side main bearing from MDina Italia which apparently is a modern replacement for the original. After having the new bearing pressed into the crankcases the next problem has arisen. The crankshaft, which I believe should just ‘slip in’ doesn’t. A few gentle taps don’t help...

Thanks 3potjohn,
I knew where the dowels go, it was all the measurements that were doing me in! Trying to make sense of not enough information. Steve Brown has set me on the correct path.

1978 500 crankcases dowels.
Bear with me if this has been asked before! I have a 1978 500 motor that was assembled without the dowels that go in the front and rear engine mounts. I have dis-assembled the motor and managed to secure ,not one, but two sets of these dowels from 2 different continents. Confusingly for me, they are...
